It is the only museum with living sea creatures in the governorate, and it is a small museum containing several species of fish and creatures from the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea. The aquarium also contains species of fish that live in sweet water, such as the Nile river and the Amazon, which makes it an entertaining and educational museum at the same time. The aquarium was established in 1930 with the purpose of protecting and nurturing sea creatures, and it is located near the Citadel of Qaitbay in El Anfoushy and the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries.

We made a stop here when we were by the castle. Aqua's life is very beautiful and amazing. You can see turtles and exotic fish. It was nice and cool in there too...so that was an added plus. Alexandria Aquarium is a small aquarium in Alexandria, Egypt. It was built in 1930 and is near Qaitbay fort on Alexandria's Eastern Harbour. The aquarium exhibits many species from the Mediterranean and Red Seas around Egypt, as well as some freshwater species from the Nile and the Amazon. Animals on display range from fish to crustaceans and turtles (both marine and freshwater). The Aquarium is also home to the Marine Research Institute. Attached to the aquarium is a small museum containing samples of preserved sea creatures from the Mediterranean, the Red Sea, and the Amazon. The museum also contains the skeleton of a very large whale and a statue of the mythical mermaid. The Alexandria Aquarium receives thousands of visitors every year from all over the world, from the many foreign tourists who seek knowledge or pleasure to the hundreds of children who visit it every week to have fun and learn about the various species of sea creatures. Very Interesting. The kids loved it. Different types of fish and it's nice and clean. The tickets are cheap.
