Janaklees Studio was founded in 2011, by a group of talented Alexandrian film makers shortly after the revolutionary wave swept the region aiming to help artists fulfil their role in society's on-going social and political struggle. We aspire to fill the void between artists and society, to nurture local artists and help them cooperate with their pears around the world, to stimulate different people to use video as a method of voicing their opinions and freely expressing themselves and to produce creative high quality visual art works. We aim to spread film culture in the community through creating opportunities for filmmakers and visual artists to produce and distribute their work and also to develop their talents through coherent system of workshops. We also help increase the interaction between local artists from Egypt and other countries. We take in consideration the volatile state the region going through and we make an effort to document the current events to work as memory keepers, History tellers and as instruments of transparency.
