Petrified Forest Protected Area is on the outskirts of New Cairo towards North-east. The closest landmark to it is the German University Cairo. It is right opposite of the campus towards east. Fossilized stumps of trees are placed at certain points. And like any other place in Egypt where they remotely suspect people can learn something or enjoy themselves, it has a ticket to it. There's nothing much inside to see except for a few stumps and pathways. A one-time visit on a day when you'd be feeling suicidal otherwise.

Especially interesting for Geology and nature buffs! Imagine your first lesson about petrified wood being amid 35 million years old remains! The protectorate is super calm and pretty, a great place for camping, hiking and definitely learning if you're into it! "The reserve is an ideal example of the physical history of the planet. The six KM area is covered with the remains of trees from the early era which were brought here due to the floods on the red Sea hills. " Seashells were also abundant, a great reminder that this was all under water someday. How amazing is that?
It was gr8 , but now sold as land and buildings
Worst protected area in Egypt
Nice place, hostile gaurds
Important natural landmark which needs focus from the Governorate.
Уникальное место. Есть стоянки для отдыха. Отлично для мини - туризма и изучения природы. С детьми ходили там около 3 часов. Воду, еду надо брать с собой.
