TheWikala of al-Ghuri was built by Sultan Qansuh al-Ghuri in 1504-1505 (CE) as part of a large construction project involving the creation of his own mausoleum and religious complex that included a khanqah (Sufi lodge), a sabil-kuttab (water dispensary plus elementary school), and a mosque-madrasa. This religious and civic complex was located just west of the wikala, and the revenues of the wikala were intended to help finance its operations. The wikala building also included a rab', a low-income apartment complex for permanent residence, above the wikala itself, combining two functions that yielded revenues. The building was most recently restored.. Today it houses workshops and studios for artisans, local offices, and serves as a venue for cultural shows including Sufi ceremonies, generally aimed at tourists.

Loved this show. Arrive early for something in the front otherwise after first few rows it’s all the same. Not selling foot or drink. A few tips: can’t take video but photos are ok. Guys wants small tip to use the restroom so bring some. But it’s an incredible show that will blow you away. A little hard to find in a chaotic neighborhood which took me an hour to get an Uber just to attempt to come through that traffic but overall the show was well worth the money loved it!!!

The tanoura show is spectacular and very unique. It's unlike any whirling dervish show I've ever seen. The idea that someone can whirl for about 30 minutes without getting dizzy is mind boggling, and the music and singing are beautiful. Tickets are also quite cheap: 5LE for Egyptians and 30LE for non-Egyptians (less than a couple of dollars)
