A small monastery from the 4th century which was originally a Roman temple. It is carved in the mountain. The mountain is called Gaballa elamoud (the column mountain) or monastery of tombs, as there are many tombs surrounding the monastery. It is where the holly family stayed for 3 days resting on the way to Asiut. There is a well there from where the holly family drank from. Saint Abahour born in 310 & went to heaven 400 A.D. he was a monk in Wadi el Natrium then moved to that place & he used to leave the place during the Roman feast in order to make them celebrating the feast till a miracle happen stopping that feast to happen. His name is mentioned in Anba Karas story as he prayed to heal his daughter & he said the prophecy that saint Karas will be a great saint.

مكان اكثر من رائع فكنيسة الدير هي عبارة عن جبانة ترجع للعصر البطلمي وقام باعمارها القديس اباهور وصديقه ابافيس وجعلها كنيسة ويظهر ذلك في الدفنات التي بمدخل الكنيسة وفي حوائطها
