The Arab Program for Human Rights Activists was founded as a civilian non-profit company in early 1997 as a consequence of attacks against a large number of workers in the field of human rights and interested personnels – in the Arab Region- and they experienced various types of violations against various fundamental rights and freedoms because of their faith in the principles and values of human rights and their defence . In the absence of mechanisms for Arab work, especially working to protect the activists and paying attention to their issues and problems, and then the program was established as a practical perspective and active process of sustained collective discussion about the problems and the needs and ambitions of workers in the field of human rights. In October 2003 the Arab Program improved its conditions according to the law of the Egyptian associations No. 84 of 2002, and was announced as a non-governmental organization.
