Being an experienced rider, I do my best to go for a ride in every country I visit. Egypt has amazingly rich history and gladly its attractions can be seen when on horseback. Some of Egyptian pyramids are just amidst the desert and the only way to get there is taking a horse or a quad. Fortunately there are dozens of stables in Cairo but you should dig really well before you find a good one. My first try wasn't successful and I had to leave the place because horses looked tired and really bony. After some research on Facebook I ran into Egypt Horse Riding & Photography and decided to give it a try. Against a small fee I was picked up from my hotel in downtown and taken to the riding stable. I started feeling comfortable after I saw their beautiful well cared for horses. Another surprise was meeting a European guide Julia who accompanied me on the trip. As an experienced rider who loves good gallops, I must say the desert is just amazing! It was February, the weather was just perfect! Horses seemed happy to go out and have a good run. In 2 hours of the tour we even had a chance to walk between the pyramids, touch them and take as many photos as we wanted. People in the stable were friendly and even though some of them didn't know a word of English, their welcoming smiles spoke for them. Can't recommend this experience more. Totally safe for solo female travelers (which I was).

It was my second time on horse and I was quite nervous. After hours of hesitation, I booked a ride with Julia around the pyramids. She made it very easy for me and in just 10 minutes I got my confidence thanks to her continuous support, great instructions and a very good temper of my horse. I had a lovely ride and view of the pyramids was breathtaking. The horses looked peaceful and happy and they were great to ride. We had a relaxing stroll at a pace I was comfortable with, yet I was secretly dreaming about having courage and skills to gallop across that beautiful desert and feel the wind in my hair!
