This was a very short stop since there is not much to see and do here. The so called museum seems to be very poorly looked after and the display of all artifacts are not displayed in a manner to show its uniqueness. About 30% of what is inside here are stalls for sellers of souvenirs.

In The oldest capital n the world, My Egypt is the best place to live.
This museum is popularly known as the Memphis open air museum. We were very eager to visit this museum, as not much evidence of the ancient city of Memphis, is available today. We had heard about the huge statue of Ramses2 that was on display here, as well as the alabaster Sphinx. Suffice to say, we were not disappointed. The huge statue of Ramses2 is displayed, lying on his back and is remarkable. The skill of the craftsmen, who created such a masterpiece is creditable indeed. Such perfect symmetry! Carved out of a single block of limestone, the statue, even without part of it's legs, is 13 meters long. We were told that the twin of this statue has been placed near the new Grand Egyptian Museum that is set to open this year, (2020). The alabaster Sphinx is exhibited in the open air garden, outside the museum that houses Ramses2. There are also a number of stone statues and remnants of old stone beds scattered around the open air museum. Within the museum campus, lining the periphery, are a number of kiosks selling souvenirs, some pretty cheesy and found everywhere, but some are pretty unique pieces. Take a look, if you have some time. There are guides available at the gate near the ticket counters. Inside the campus, near the entrance there are paid washrooms and fresh drinking water. The road leading to the museum is bad, but parking is big enough.
Really nice sculpture of Ramses II, well preserved and cool to understand the start of the civilization
Absolutely the coolest place. If you go to Egypt, going to Memphis is a MUST. It is about a 40 minute drive from Giza and so worth it. It is so amazing it is honestly hard to put into words! When you go to the Cairo museum a lot of the stuff there is labeled 'found in Memphis' so it's historically significant. It's an outside garden and you can touch almost everything. I'm sure you aren't supposed to but you should :)
It is nice yet small area, the main piece is indoor exhibited (huge sculpture of Ramses II) is amazing, most of the pieces are outdoor and quite interesting; it is possible to by several kinds of souvenirs some supposedly made out of alabaster but the most of them are cheap. It would take approximately 40-60 minutes visiting it for it is a small place. Recommendable.
too overrated place. 80 EGP for 20 minutes - for me it's too much
Located 20km south of Giza in Memphis in what feels like a suburban area, the Mit Rahina Museum is open-air and offers a range of artefacts - the remains of buildings, statues and more from the period 3000 BC. The main attraction is a large statue of Ramses II, which is no longer erect. Expect to spend up to an hour inspecting all of the items if you're detail oriented. If you're just after a few photos you could be in and out in under 30 minutes.
